Meet Emily

Emily is a storyteller and has a passion for connecting with others. Throughout her time as a freelance journalist, she developed a deep enthusiasm for discovering people’s unique stories and sharing them with those around her. She believes that everyone has a story to share, and by listening to the stories of others, we can foster understanding and cultivate greater empathy for one another. This mindset, combined with her experience in recovery-focused programs like Camp Rise —a camp for children impacted by abuse— and her leadership in “A Week Without Violence” —a campaign to raise awareness of domestic violence signs— is what led Emily to join Recovery Beyond.

Emily is originally from Port Orchard, Washington where she attended South Kitsap High School. She was a three sport athlete, participating in soccer, basketball, and track, and competed in the Junior Olympics for high jump where she became an All-American. She went on to attend the University of Washington where she earned a degree in Journalism all while continuing her love for athletics by playing a variety of intramural sports. She has lived in Seattle for the past five years.

Emily previously was the Athletic Coordinator for the Bellevue Boys & Girls Club where she coordinated and directed a variety of athletic camps across the Bellevue School District. She is also a singer-songwriter, performing her original songs throughout the greater Seattle area, and is in the process of recording her own album.

As our Program Assistant, Emily helps plan and schedule Recovery Beyond Group Events & Activities. Along with keeping our Event Calendar updated, Emily is a primary point of contact with our members helping with event questions, attendance, and social media for events.
