Meet Taylor

Taylor is thankful to be substance-free for over six years after overcoming many challenges with addiction and homelessness. Since 2019, he has volunteered in social work to support others while continuing his own personal growth. He also worked for two years as a substance use counselor in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), where he gained valuable experience facilitating group sessions and supporting individuals in their recovery. This work taught him that recovery—much like love—means different things to different people.

Since joining Recovery Beyond in 2022, Taylor has discovered the joy of teamwork and staying active, particularly through hiking. In 2023, he embraced indoor bouldering and boxing, appreciating the physical challenges and the sense of community they bring. One of his proudest accomplishments came in 2024 when he summited Mount Adams with the Recovery Beyond Mountaineering Team. He has also climbed Mt. St. Helens, participated in a dog sledding adventure in Minnesota, and led numerous smaller hikes in partnership with several community organizations across the region.

Taylor has completed his bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavioral Science and is on track to become a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP). He is a Certified Peer Counselor, a recovery coach, and has completed the CCAR training course. Looking ahead, Taylor is excited to continue spreading hope and building a healthy community with the help of Recovery Beyond and the growing team.
